Royal Navy Show Jumping and Eventing Team - Dates for Team Selection 2011
So how do I get selected?
First step – don’t be shy, let us know who you are!!! Please see the area contacts page for contact details; all the reps attended the selection sifts last year and will have a good knowledge of what is expected.
If you are still interested then you need to put yourself forward for the first sift. You may subsequently be selected to attend the second sift and selected for the Inter-Service Team. If you are not selected then you will have had the opportunity to get to know us and the standard expected. There may also be opportunities for you to hire horses throughout the season and once you have attended the sift we will have a better understanding of your capabilities and can let you know when the opportunities arise!
Initial Selection Sift
Dates: 7 - 8 Feb 11
Aim: 2 day assessment where potential team members will be identified and invited back to the second sift.
Location: RAC Saddle Club, Bovington Equestrian Centre.
Eligibility: All serving and reserve Royal Navy personnel. All personnel must be a member of the RNRMEA to join simply complete the application form and pay the small joining fee.
Minimum requirements: Horse and rider combination must be able to jump a course of 90cm competently.
Availability: Spaces are available on a first come first served basis as we try to limit the group sizes.
Horse for hire: Yes

Notes: The team will meet the costs of venue hire and instruction but cost of stabling, accommodation and horse hire will be the individuals responsibility.
As space is limited and the target audience is new and novice riders, there maybe a 'by' given for the first sift to horse/rider combinations who have already competed at the senior level in the previous year. There is no presumption of selection for last years Senior riders. This is at the sole discretion of the Team Captain.
Second Selection Sift
Dates: 1, 2 - 3 Apr 11
Aim: Assessment selecting the Senior Team(s) for the forthcoming season.
Location: Pontispool Equestrian Centre, Somerset.
Eligibility: Serving and reserve Royal Navy personnel by invitation only. All personnel must be a member of the RNRMEA.
Minimum requirements: Horse and rider combination must be able to jump a course of 90cm competently and fences may reach 1.10m.
Horse for hire: No

Notes: The assessment culminates in a ODE competition; participation in the ODE is part of the selection and is particularly important to enable assessment of combinations in both the training and competition environment.
